Alloy 625 can be readily fabricated by standard industrial techniques. However, due to its high work-hardening rate and high elevated-temperature yield strength, specialized machining and hot-working procedures are required.
Hot Working Guidelines
Starting Temperature: 2100°F to 2150°F (1149°C to 1177°C).
Finish Temperature: Do not continue heavy hot working below 1850°F (1010°C) to prevent severe grain refinement gradients and cracking.
Light Finishing: Can be performed down to 1600°F (871°C) to achieve fine grain sizes for Grade 1 requirements.
Machining & Tooling Recommendations
Tooling Type: Cemented Carbide (ISO P20-P30 or C-2 Grade) with positive rake angles.
