3. Flatten the test

When D≥60.3mm, flattening test is carried out in two stages. The first stage test toughness, platen spacing H, according to the general formula. H = (1 e) S / (e S / D)

e: flattening constant

S: pipe nominal wall thickness, mm;

D: pipe diameter, mm.

Flattening constant: Grade A is 0.09, Grade B is 0.07, grade C is 0.06;

The second stage is to check the integrity, continue to flatten the steel pipe rupture or steel pipe wall fit in the entire process of delamination or other defects appear.

If the D / S ratio is less than 10, cracks appearing on the inside surfaces at the 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock positions should not be rejected.

Check

1, all steel should have no harmful defects, and should be processed fine;

2, the depth of the surface flaws thinning the wall thickness to less than 90% of the nominal wall thickness, it should be sentenced to defects. Defects can be repaired for defects with a depth of more than 33.3% of the wall thickness, but repairs are to be made using a low-hydrogen welding method and raised bumps are to be removed.

Each pipe should be clearly marked with the following:

Manufacturer’s name, trademark, ASTM standard number and grade, bar code can be used as a supplementary mark when required by the buyer (when D≤101.6mm, the above marks can be printed on the label)
