How to calculate the pressure capacity of seamless steel pipe

The calculation method of the pressure bearing capacity of the seamless steel pipe is as follows. Let us choose a practical case to explain:

DN=10MM, wall thickness is 3mm

Let the tensile strength of the material be σ, the pressure be P, the outer diameter of the pipe D; the 
wall thickness of the pipe δ=(P*D)/(2*σ/S) 
where S is the safety factor;

Because P is less than 7 MPa, S is selected as S=8; P is less than 17.5 MPa, S is selected as S=6; P is greater than 17.5 MPa, S is selected as S=4; 
we choose safety factor S=6; and 20 steel tensile strength is 410 MPa ,

Therefore, the pressure that the pipe can withstand P=(2*σ/S*δ)/D 
                   =(2*410/6*3)/(10+6) 
                   =26.25MPa>Set the 17.5, 
so the safety factor is S=4

Therefore, the pressure that the pipe can withstand P=(2*σ/S*δ)/D 
                   =(2*410/4*3)/(10+6) 
                   =39.375MPa

According to this formula, you can easily calculate the pressure bearing capacity of seamless steel pipes of various specifications.
