Bearing Pile, welded pipe Piles for construction

Bearing Piles 4 TYPES:

erw pipe

1. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE WELD PIPE (ERW PIPE PILES)
Electric Resistance Weld pipe is normally produced in sizes from 2 3/8 inch OD thru 24 inch OD.

ERW is able to be produced to pipe specifications A252, A500, A53 and API 5L.

Pipe can be produced to the above specifications utilizing other grades of steel (A36, A572, A588, etc.)

Pipe Weight Calculation:

LB / FT = (OD-WT) x WT x 10.69 OD = Outside Diameter WT = Wall Thickness

2.Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded PIPE (LSAW Pipe)

ASTM A139 LSAW Structural pipes and pile pipes for low pressure liquid delivery
LSAW Pipes are formed by rolling a discrete length into a cylinder and welding it both longitudinally and laterally. This method can produce the largest and thickest pipe sections, which can be used as load bearing piles, combination wall piles or other applications.

3.Double Submerged Arc Weld Pipe
Double submerged arc welded pipe (DSAW) derives its name from the welding process wherein the welding arc is submerged in flux while the welding takes place. Both inside and outside welds are required and are usually accomplished in separate processes, hence the word “double.” These separate welds consume a portion of the other, resulting in a single high quality weld nugget.

4.Spiral Submerged Arc Welded SSAW Pipe
SSAW Pipe are formed in a spiral and welded both inside and outside continuously. They are typically used as King Piles for Combination Walls and also Dredging Pipe.

Driven steel piles are a very efficient way to carry loads from structures and one of the most tested elements in the construction industry.

The manufacturing of spiral weld pipe is especially flexible for thicknesses of one inch or less. The multitude of different diameters, cut to length
sections and speed of production makes spiral weld a very attractive product for bearing piles..

Product Highlights
• Wide Range of Diameters, Thicknesses and Lengths
Spiralweld: Up to 120″ OD; 1″ Thickness
Rolled & Welded: Up to 196″ OD; 2″ Thickness
• Height of Weld
* Outside Diameter (OD): 1/16th of an inch or less
* Inside Diameter (ID): 1/32nd of an inch or less
• Custom Lengths, Thicknesses and Fabrication
• Accepted by DOTs in Seismically Active Areas
• Skyline Steel Spiralweld Pipe is Structurally Equal to American
Petroleum Institute (API) Pipe*
• Destructive and Non-destructive In-house Testing
• Third-party Inspection (Visual and Ultrasonic)
• Hydrostatic Testing Capabilities

Pipe piles offer several advantages over other types of driven piles. The circular shape of the pipe means there is no weak axis and the interior of the pile
can be augered out to remove obstructions or socket the pipe into rock.
The pipe interior can be filled with reinforced concrete to increase the pile strength. Pipes can be manufactured to extremely long lengths and
are easy to handle due to the bending strength-to-weight ratio and lack of a weak axis. The manufacturing process of pipe allows for millions of
different combinations of diameters, thicknesses and steel grades.

Spiral Weld Pipe is used for dredging, slurry, water and other pipelines, as well as piling and structural applications.

Spiral Weld Pipe is produced in accordance with the dimensional and tolerance requirements of various ASTM, AWWA, and API Specifications.

Rolled and welded pipe is ideal in applications requiring larger-sized pipe.
The Tappan Zee Bridge in New York used tens of thousands of tons of 72 inch diameter pipe. Pipe piles of this size have the capability of carrying
thousands of tons of axial load and very high lateral loads.

Several accessories are available to assist the contractor during installation.
Inside and outside cutting shoes or conical points are good for hard driving conditions. Points are also useful if the interior of the pipe needs to be
kept free of soil. Three different types of splicing mechanisms are also available. Backing rings are used when the pile needs a full penetration
butt weld. Drive on and weld fit splicers are used for projects where speed is important and the full bending loads do not need to be carried through the splice.
